Symptoms of a broken nose may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pain and tenderness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A crackling or crunching sound when touching the nose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bleeding or fluid drainage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A crooked nose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Swelling around the nose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bruising around the eyes and nose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Difficulty breathing through the nose<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you notice symptoms of a broken nose after facial trauma, visit your healthcare provider promptly. They will conduct a physical exam and x-ray to determine the extent of your nasal injury. Pain relievers may also be recommended to reduce swelling. In cases of severe trauma, your nose may develop a septal hematoma\u2014a blood pool in the septum. In these cases, your provider will drain the hematoma to prevent perforation or tissue death.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"realignment\">Realignment<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>If your nasal fracture causes a crooked nose, your provider will manually realign the bones and cartilage, typically under local anesthesia, though general anesthesia might be necessary based on age and injury severity.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"surgery\">Surgery<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>Severe fractures <a href=\"https:\/\/southvalleyent.com\/ent\/nasal-surgery\/\">might need surgery<\/a>.
