Dr. Meads shared an article about a woman in China who had a spider crawl in her ear. \u201cThis can be an incredibly painful thing, especially if the insect begins to spin a web,\u201d said Dr. Meads. Even though the spider was very stubborn it eventually was successfully removed. Read Dr. Mead\u2019s article here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Peterson showed off the latest tech news with a video from AfterShokz, a headphone device company that uses bone conductivity to transmit sound instead of through the ear. \u201cFor years our patients have successfully used bone conduction hearing aids to restore hearing,\u201d said Dr. Peterson. \u201cIt\u2019s interesting to see this technology move mainstream with the AfterShokz product.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n For Dr. Gilbert, his \u2018ear\u2019 story was performed by a facial plastic physician who surgically pinned back a six-year-old\u2019s prominent ears. \u201cEven though this is a relatively common procedure, I\u2019m always happy to see children benefit from medical advancements,\u201d said Dr. Gilbert. \u201cThe news report has a picture of the boy\u2019s before-and-after picture and his expression is priceless.\u201d See Dr. Gilbert\u2019s article here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Anderson also highlighted a news report out of China featuring expert tradesmen who clean customer’s\u2019 ear canals. \u201cIt turns out these folks have a long heritage of ear-cleaning professionals.\u201d Dr. Anderson said he has great respect for their centuries-old practices but probably wouldn\u2019t volunteer to sit in their chair. \u201cTake a look at their cleaning instruments–it looks fairly intimidating.\u201d See Dr. Anderson\u2019s article here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Doctors Meads, Peterson, Gilbert and Anderson love to learn about the latest in ear, nose and throat medicine.
