Symptoms from an odontogenic source will likely include sharp and localized pain, swelling, fever and headache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Odontogenic pain can result from a broken tooth, bacterial infection, gum irritation and more. Because tooth pain can be a symptom of a serious problem, it should be immediately assessed by a dental professional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tooth Pain From a Sinus Infection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A study on sinus infection-induced toothaches found that sinus infections were a common enough cause that it is appropriate for dentists to rule it out <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/14552231\/#:~:text=Sinusitis%20is%20a%20common%20medical,proceeding%20with%20definitive%20dental%20treatment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">before proceeding with dental treatment<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A sinus infection is an inflammation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/southvalleyent.com\/?page_id=247\">tissues in the sinuses<\/a>. Sinus infection-induced tooth pain will likely exhibit symptoms such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dull pain in upper back teeth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low fever<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pressure or pain from head movement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stuffy or runny nose<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Headache<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cough<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ear fullness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sore throat<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How Can Sinus Infection Tooth Pain Be Managed?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist has determined that a sinus infection is causing your tooth pain, the following treatment methods may be effective:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Decongestants<\/strong>. Decongestants temporarily <a href=\"https:\/\/southvalleyent.com\/?page_id=257\">reduce swelling and inflammation<\/a>. Reduced inflammation may help calm your tooth pain. Decongestants are a short-term fix and should not be used longer than recommended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Nasal saline rinses<\/strong>. Mix warm, purified water and saline powder to create your saline rinse. Pour the rinse through one nostril and out the other to reduce inflammation in the sinuses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Drinking plenty of fluids<\/strong>. Drinking plenty of fluids will help clear excess mucus and reduce inflammation.
